Worship your way out
I’ve just started reading a book written by Tommy Tenney, entitled “God’s Eye View”. Within the first chapter, I came across a quote that caught my eye.
“Worship your way out of your circumstances.” (p. 7)
How often do we do this?I know that I have a tendency to become more lax on my relationship with God when things are going smoothly. I praise Him for what He has blessed me with, but my attitude tends to fade a bit. Then, when things go wrong, I look to Him for help. But do I really praise Him during the rough times? Usually not.
One of my favorite worship songs is “Blessed Be Your Name”, by Matt Redman. Part of the lyrics read, “You give and take away; my heart will choose to say; Lord blessed be Your Name.”
It’s a choice; we can praise God, or we can ignore Him. Whether things are going smoothly, or we’re facing challenges, we always have that same choice.
When Job lost everything he had, he still chose to praise the Lord. He realized that everything is in God’s hands, and that we cannot see the Big Picture. God knows. We must praise Him for His wisdom, and thank Him for the strength and courage He gives us when we rely on Him through the difficult times in our lives.
Thank you Lord, for all you have given me. Thank you for all the situations and circumstance in my life; I pray that I will grow closer to You and learn to rely on You fully as I take each step in the journey You have prepared for me.
Well done. It’s so right. Makes me want to praise more. I mean it is so easy in the good times but the lows; are well need to try a little harder. keep up the good work.
